Synopsis :

As Big Blue, a giant bluefin tuna, made his annual migration from his traditional Mediterranean spawning grounds to summer feeding off the coast of New Hampshire, Tim Beaumer and his father Roger prepared for the fishing season by mortgaging their house and buying a bigger boat. Tim with his dog Tux would fish inshore for lobsters in their old boat after school and on weekends, while his father worked their new boat offshore for groundfish.

Each faced their own challenges. Bluefin tuna are endangered by fishing pressure to feed the sushi market. Tim and Roger were competing with better equipped fishermen who didn’t always follow the NOAA rules. When Tim and his girlfriend Ali try to protect Big Blue and stay true to the Beaumer family goal of sustainable fishing, they find themselves on a collision course with other commercial fishermen trying to make money and feed their families.
